Nadine Clarkson
Nadine Clarkson provides expert advice and representation in community care and public law housing. She has expertise in working vulnerable clients and clients who lack mental capacity. She is also a part-time Judge in the Social Security and Child support Tribunal and Immigration Appeal Chamber. Before becoming a judge in 2011 she was for many years a solicitor at Hansen Palomares and successfully conducted litigation in the Court of Appeal, House of Lords, and European Court of Justice. She practises as a solicitor with advocacy rights in the higher courts, having qualified as a barrister in 2002. She has also served as a trustee for the London Advice Services Alliance, the Latin American Disabled People’s Project, and the Clapham Community Project. Nadine speaks Spanish.

Jacobo Borrero es el director de nuestro departamento de prestaciones sociales y tiene un gran conocimiento y también experiencia a la hora de proteger los derechos de los ciudadanos de la Unión Europea que viven en el Reino Unido. También es especialista en todo lo relacionado con la vivienda, incluyendo casos de desahucio y mal estado de la vivienda. Jacobo se licenció como abogado en mayo de 2011 después de haber hecho las prácticas con nosotros. Es abogado de turno en los casos de desahucio en el Lambeth County Court. Jacobo también es el gerente de la oficina y está a cargo de nuestro equipo de administración y es nuestro primer punto de contacto con respecto a nuestro sistema informático. Ha personalizado nuestro programa informático para el manejo de casos y también ha desarrollado e implementado la automatización de documentos. Jacobo nació en Colombia y habla español.

María Mercedes Palomares es la otra social del bufete y está a cargo del trabajo relacionado con los problemas de la vivienda, derecho público y la asistencia social. María es especialista en conseguir acceso a los servicios relacionados con la vivienda y los servicios sociales y en particular, en los derechos de las personas discapacitadas, los extranjeros y los refugiados. Tiene experiencia especialmente en representar a las personas que están mentalmente discapacitadas. María nació en Colombia. Después de estudiar Sociología hizo un postgrado en Economía del Bienestar y Vivienda e hizo sus prácticas como trabajadora social en el Reino Unido. Ha formado organizaciones comunitarias para las mujeres latinoamericanas y ha participado en promover los derechos de las mujeres extranjeras y refugiadas y también los derechos humanos. María ha trabajado desde 1983 en centros de asistencia legal como consejera en temas relacionados con la vivienda antes de pasar a participar en la formación de Ole Hansen & Partners y de licenciarse como abogada en 1996.

Ole Hansen está a cargo del bufete. Hizo sus prácticas y trabajó en la City antes de decidir que el mundo legal significaba mucho más que cuidar los intereses de las grandes compañías y aceptó la invitación de un bufete en Hackney que trabajaba bajo legal aid. Después, durante siete años fue Codirector y Director del Legal Action Group y luego combinó su trabajo como periodista, lector en la universidad, consultor legal, productor y presentador de televisión antes de retomar la práctica del derecho en 1995 formando Ole Hansen & Partners, que ahora se ha convertido en Hansen Palomares. Es miembro del Law Society Access to Justice Committee, el Comité de Asesores Legales de las Brigadas de Paz y de la Caravana Colombiana de Juristas. Ha escrito tres libros e inumerables artículos sobre la práctica del derecho aunque no ha tenido mucho tiempo para hacerlo desde que volvió a la práctica en 1995. En 2005 recibió e galardón de la “Personalidad del Ańo de Legal Aid” que otorga el Legal Aid Practitioner’s Group. Ole habla y escribe Danés y habla algo de Español.

Ole Hansen manages the practice. He trained and practised in the City before deciding that there was more to legal life than looking after large corporations and accepted an invitation from a legal aid firm in Hackney. He later spent 7 years as Co-Director and Director of the Legal Action Group and then combined work as a journalist, lecturer, legal consultant, and television producer/presenter before returning to full-time practice in 1995, setting up Ole Hansen & Co, which is now Hansen Palomares. He is a member of the Colombia Caravana. He has written three books and innumerable articles on legal practice but since going back into full time practice in 1995 he has not had much time for writing. In 2005 he was the Legal Aid Practitioners’ Group “Legal Aid Personality of the Year”. Ole is fluent in Danish and speaks some Spanish.

Maria Mercedes Palomares is the partner in overall charge of our housing, public law and community care work. Maria specializes in access to housing and social services with focus on the rights of disabled people, migrant workers and asylum seekers. She has particular experience in representing mentally incapacitated people. Maria was born in Colombia. After studying sociology she obtained post-graduate qualifications in the UK in welfare economics and housing/planning and trained as a social worker. She set up community organisations for Latin American women and has been involved in promoting the rights of migrant and refugee women as well as the promotion of international human rights. From 1983 onwards Maria was employed in law centres as a housing adviser before becoming involved in setting up Ole Hansen and Co and qualifying as a solicitor in 1996. She is currently a Member of Human Rights Committee of the Law Society.

Jacobo Borrero is head of our housing department. Jacobo qualified in May 2011 after training with us. Jacobo also acts as office manager. He is in charge of our administration and is our first point of contact for IT support. He has customised our case management system and developed and implemented the automation of document templates. Jacobo was born in Colombia and is a native Spanish speaker.

Natasha completed her BA Honours in Spanish and Politics at the University of Leeds in 2008. From 2009 to 2013 she worked at international human rights NGO Justice for Colombia UK, and from 2013 to 15, as Protection Coordinator at human rights organisation MOVICE (National Movement of Victims of State Crimes), based in Bogota, Colombia. In 2015 she completed the GDL at BPP, and went on to study the LPC at the University of Law. Natasha worked as a paralegal at Leigh Day Solicitors and volunteered at Hammersmith and Fulham Law Centre. She then worked as a paralegal at Hansen Palomares before starting her training contract with us in January 2018,which she has now completed. Natasha is a member of the Colombian Caravana UK Lawyers Group. Natasha speaks fluent Spanish.

Isabel qualified as lawyer in Colombia where she worked in various legal and social development roles, including as legal advisor for the victims of the armed civil conflict. She moved to the UK in 2012 and has worked in various legal and charitable organisations, including as a development coordinator for a mental health charity, intern legal caseworker at the AIRE Centre and volunteer migrant advocate at the Hackney Migrant Centre. In addition to her law degree, Isabel holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law from Queen Mary University of London, a Diploma in Advice for Victims of Violence from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Diploma in Conciliation from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellin. She qualified as a solicitor in the UK through the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme and was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 2022. Isabel is a native Spanish speaker.
